We begin in Scarborough Marsh, home of Saltmarsh Sparrow…

…and host to feeding Roseate Terns… (jl)

…and we’ll also begin our culinary tour with Maine’s famous Lobster Rolls.

On our way north, we’ll look for Upland Sandpiper…

…and we’ll stop in bogs where more southerly birds such as…

…Blue-gray Gnatcatcher occur. (jl)

Our goal is Mt. Washington in New Hampshire’s White Mountains where…

…the weather at the summit can be an experience…

…but the birding is better a bit lower down…

…as we’re here primarily to see Bicknell’s Thrush.

We’ll walk through boreal woodlands…

…searching for birds such as Black-backed Woodpecker… (jl)

…Spruce Grouse…

…Canada Warbler…(jl)

…and Lincoln’s Sparrow…(jl)

…and we may even come across Moose.

We’ll return to the coast, and they don’t call this the ‘Bold Coast’ for nothing.

We’ll board our boat in lovely Cutler Harbor…

…and journey to Machias Seal Island.

We’ll get close to a host of breeding species…

…Common Eider…(jl)

…Common Murre and Razorbill…

…and everyone’s favorite, the adorable (scientifically-speaking of course) Atlantic Puffin.

…and some of the birds even come to us.

We’ll work our way as far “Downeast” as we can get…

…and encounter more lobster, of course…

Finally we’ll visit Acadia National Park including the summit of Cadillac Mountain…

…and take another trip offshore for shearwaters and whales, bringing our tour to close.
